Things I love Thursday 6/4/2017

It’s the first Thursday of April and it’s time for a Things I love Thursday post.  Pour yourself a cup of tea and relax while I share all the things that I’ve loved lately.

I love:

  • Celebrating my one-year anniversary with my beloved, David.  He is such an amazing person and he makes me feel so blessed. We have had an awesome year together and I can’t wait to see what adventures the future has in store for us.

  • Having Mr Ringo peer over my shoulder while I read.  He’s such a curious little dude.
  • The late emergence of Autumn weather.  The final week of March was almost unbearably humid and hot.  I honestly wondered if the weather was ever going to cool off.  But like clockwork, April brought a crisp morning wind and a chill to the air.  I’ve happily been rocking knits and socks, and I’ve had the perfect excuse to break out the slippers I was gifted months ago.

  • This Deadpool stuffie that David bought me for our anniversary. For our first date, we saw Deadpool and played the arcade machines at the cinema.  So now, Deadpool is kinda “our” movie.
  • Lush’s Ruby Red Slippers bubble bath bar.

  • Argyle vests
  • Putting the sleeves on a jumper I’m knitting for myself.  I”ve already finished one simple jumper for myself, thus completing my new years resolution of knitting an actual garment.  This time I’m working on something with more shaping and raglan sleeves.

  • This awesome Monsters Inc tee shirt I picked up for $7 at Uniqlo.  I have a few Uniqlo shirts now and they are such good quality.
  • The Good Dinosaur.  I finally got around to watching it and it made me cry so hard. And also laugh so hard.  And then cry again.  And laugh some more.  It was a yo-yo of emotions.

  • finding the final Sandman book to complete my extensive collection in the op shop for just one dollar.  It was a proud moment.
  • Project Runway.  I’ve become a tiny bit obsessed.

  • This room service pizza I got for dinner on our anniversary.  It was not vegan (it had goat’s cheese) but it was vegetarian. It had zucchini, pumpkin, pine nuts and leek. It was so amazingly good that I didn’t even care that I had a food baby for our anniversary-celebration-sexy-times.
  • Actual vegan recipes I’ve made these past few weeks, including an off-the-charts mushroom stroganoff and a mock-chicken and vegetable soup. I’m getting extremely good at this vegan cooking thing.

  • Finding a mega-cute heart hoop for my helix piercing.  I’m always on the lookout for unusual body jewellery and I really haven’t changed the stud in my helix since I got it pierced nearly eighteen months ago.  This heart was just the ticket, and it’s so comfortable.
  • Wood fire smoke
  • Being able to snuggle under layers of quilts without exploding from heat.

What do you love this week?

Things I Love Thursday 25/4/2013

Hello and welcome to another Things I Love Thursday.  Each week I make a list of all the things that I’ve loved throughout the week.  This helps to cheer me up when I’m in a funk or prolong a good mood.  If you’d like, you can join in by leaving your own list in the comments.

This week I love:

My poor little guy has been really sick.  We noticed that he was acting strangely last week, just being really sooky and clingy.  Then, one night he had an accident on the floor of my office.  I should point out that he’s been house-trained for years and he never does that.  Last Monday morning we woke up to find that he’d peed in several places in the house.  He started wandering around, squatting wherever he was and peeing a tiny bit every few minutes.  I was scared out of my wits.  We made an emergency vet appointment and the vet did loads of tests.  It turns out that Ringo has crystals in his bladder, which is similar to a human having kidney stones.  The vet doesn’t know what causes it, but it’s totally treatable.  Ringo now has a special new diet and he’s been a lot better.  I am so relieved.

– Wedding planning.  I’ve been taking my maid of honour duties very seriously and helping my bride-to-be-bestie to plan her wedding.  I’ve never given much thought to weddings before, and this has unlocked a whole new world for me.  I had no idea that there was so much involved!  As we’re still in the early planning stages, I can still play the “fantasy planning” game.  I probably won’t find things as fun when I’ve got a real-life budget to stick to.

-Cuddling under a giant blanket with Ross and watching Frasier and Game of Thrones by candlelight.

– Finding cute new belts at the op shop

– Oolong tea.

DSCF8058-Making a Bad Day List.  I was inspired by The Militant Baker to do this exercise.  It’s basically a list of all the things I can do when I’m having a bad day.  When you have depression, some days are harder than others, and it can be really helpful to have a list of positive and practical ways to pull yourself out of a slump.  I’ve written one of these lists before, but it was years ago when I was living in Melbourne, and many of the things on it no longer apply to me.  So I’ve updated it (with my deliciously slanty handwriting) and stuck it to my office wall so that I can refer to it as needed.

– Chunky bangles.

– Getting hugged by comic-book dudes.

-Jelly’s new habit of squishing herself in between the pillows on the guest bed on chilly mornings.

– Grace Coddington.  I’m reading her autobiography at the moment and it’s totally fascinating.

DSCF8062– My new stuffed Roz.  At Supanova, there was a massive stall filled with a variety of Disney plush toys.  I was on the brink of blowing my cash on a stuffed Marie (from the Aristocats) when I spotted Roz.  I’ve never seen a stuffed version of her, but she’s my favourite Monsters Inc character.  The plushie is hilarious too.

-I’m not sure yet where I want to keep her, but for now she’s sitting atop one of our many bookcases.

I’ve been impersonating her every time I walk into the lounge room.  Ross must be so sick of it by now!

What are you loving this week?  Have you been impersonating any creepy animated characters?  Have your pets developed any hilarious habits?  Let me know in the comments.

Things I Love Thursday 13/9/2012

It’s been a huge week for me.  The weather has been up and down, I’ve caught up with family, celebrated the ninth anniversary of the day I met Ross, done a tonne of work and loads more.  I have heaps to be grateful for this week, so it’s time to get down to it.

This week, I love:

-Sunday driving.  On Sunday, Ross and I went for a trip to Milawa, which is home to many wineries and an incredible cheese factory.

We ate this enormous cheese platter during our visit to the cheese factory, and it was delicious.  The blue cheese was my favourite.  Afterwards, we went for a leisurely drive to Beechworth, where we bought lots of lollies at the sweet shop.  We rounded off the afternoon by sharing an ice-cream cone and then heading home.

-Finally getting around to seeing The Dark Knight rises.  I thought that the movie was pretty great, if a little long.  I particularly loved Anne Hathaway as Cat Woman.

– Dipping my toes in little patches of sunshine.

-Ringo.  He has a new bed which he loves to lie in, particularly if I tuck him in before he goes to sleep.

– Spring Cleaning.  I’ve been like a little tornado this week, sweeping through the house and tidying everything in my wake.  I did a huge clean-out of our linen closet and managed to empty two shelves.  I’m beginning to feel a lot more organized.

– Blood plum jam.  Mmmm.

– The new season of Dr Who.  I thought that the first episode was a bit weak, but after the second, I feel that it’s back on form.

-Milk-maid braids.  I popped my hair into these cute braids for the car trip on Sunday, and I’ve decided that I really like the way they look.  They’re really sweet and it kept my hair off my neck and face.  I can see this becoming a regular style for me over summer.

-Writing guest posts for some of my favorite bloggers

– My workmate, Abbey.  She’s such a ray of sunshine and I love working with her.

– The realisation that my mother did the right thing by not allowing me to wear skimpy outfits when I was 12.  I shake my head at some of the things that little girls are wearing today, and it makes me very glad that my Mum was a bit stricter about what she’d let me leave the house in (although I wasn’t so thrilled about it at the time).

What do you love this week?  Don’t hesitate, leave a comment telling me all the things that are blissing you out this week!
