Things I Love Thursday 18/9/2014

I’m afraid it’s going to be a short Things I Love Thursday post this week.  I’ve been having a really rough week.  Ironically, the same day I published my post about Maintaining a Work-Life Balance, I had a total meltdown over work.  It’s been a stressful couple of weeks in the office and I’ve been working lots of extra hours and the pressure caught up with me and exploded out my eyeballs.  It wasn’t pretty.

But there are still a few things making me smile.  Such as:

– Awesome friends who send thoughtful emails full of strength and love.  I adore that so many of my friends just ‘get’ me.

– Having my man-friend drop into the office just to give me a hug when I’m feeling low.

– Long, twisty yoga sessions to work out my office-chair kinks.

– Chicken parma

– Mario Kart

– Rediscovering Freaks and Geeks, and realising that Rashida Jones was in one episode.

– Marathon sessions watching The Walking Dead.  I’ve fallen hard for that show.

– Sleeping right through til lunchtime on the weekends.

– Getting a rad new mascara (I’ll do a review soon, I promise)

– Laughing with my workmate about Buffy.

– Seeing a Prince Harry Doppelganger

– The smell of sunshine on clean hair.

– Making a list of all my favourite words.

What do you love this week?  It doesn’t matter if there’s one thing that makes you smile, or a million things. I want to hear all about them!

  1. Awww. Feeling for you, lovely. I hope this week gets much, much better! ❤

    Things I love:

x Having my Aunt (I've just moved!) drop off the most beautiful package to me – FROM YOU! It's been a rough week here as well, and receiving the most exquisite (you are SERIOUSLY talented!), thoughtful gifts that I know Charlotte will love forever put the biggest smile on my face. I can't thank you enough!
x Reunions with friends that you haven't seen for months. One of my best friends that I made in Blenheim (*shudder*) has just moved to Auckland… PARTY TIME! Excellent!
x Korn (as in, the band… not a misspelled vegetable 😉 ). Always and forever! I've been listening to them for 13 years now, and they never fail to inspire 🙂 (As corny – ha! – as it sounds, just knowing that all 5 of those guys – particularly their singer – have endured such difficult, turbulent times, yet triumphed, is enough to cheer me up during my worst moments.)
x Charlotte's smiles and cuddles. I'm typing this on 3 hours sleep (THANKS FOR THE 6AM WAKE-UP CALL, Charlie!), but who could stay grumpy when there's a baby who immediately beams, as you reach for her from her bassinet, upon recognition of your face?!

    xoxo

    • Hooray! I’m so glad that the package arrived safely and that you like it. I can’t wait to make some more baby goodies for your little angel.

I love the fact that you’re still into bands you listened to in high school. I was really into Nirvana in my teen years, and their music still holds a place in my heart.

  2. This week – after having not so great birthday lunch, heading to Messina in Smith St and discovering awesome gelato. The shop was quiet so we got to sample nearly every flavour 🙂

I started watching Walking Dead but couldn’t get into it. Have you watched In The Flesh? I’m not a big zombie fan but it’s really good. It’s a BBC drama about zombies being reintegrated into society.

    • I haven’t seen In the Flesh, but I like what I’m hearing. I always wonder what happens to the zombies after the apocalypse is over. I’m adding that to my TV show list right now!

  3. Sending love and hugs! I’ve had a few moments this week where I’ve just burst into tears. I often think of sending you emails, but I always worry I’m going to bother you 😛 I can be a sucky friend that way, in keeping up communication. You have been in my thoughts though!
I’ve never seen Freaks & Geeks, its a show I keep hearing about and I want to see, I should really look into it!
Hmm, things I’m loving right now.
    – Getting a good, pain free nights sleep. It’s rare right now.
    – Finding the most gorgeous bouquet of flowers to put on my brothers grave. Maybe a bit morbid, but it just felt like the perfect flowers for him.
    – Snuggles with my cat & when he reaches up and softly puts his paw on my face.

    • Awww, honey! You would never bother me. If you need to email me, always do. And I don’t think you’re a sucky friend in the slightest.

I love when my cats pat me too. Ringo does it more often than Jelly does, and he’s always so gentle about it.
