The sun is shining once again in my little corner of the world. To celebrate, I’m wearing my favourite shirt as part of a laid-back ensemble.
I am wearing:
– Blue swirl-print shirt (thrifted)
– Blue bootcut jeans from Target
– Green loafers from Rubi shoes
– Penny farthing collar pins (gift from my friend Tom)
– Blue stud earrings.
I have so much love for this shirt. I thrifted it ten years ago for a dollar, and I’ve worn it more times than I can count. In spite of the constant washing and wearing, it’s still in great condition. The blue print makes my eyes really pop, and it’s such an easy colour to pair with both relaxed and dressed-up outfits. I usually wear it with jeans for a casual-but-funky look.
These jeans have been kicking about in my closet for about two years now. I bought them for a steal at $15, because I loved the classic shape and the dark wash. But they were miles too long for me (a common problem because I’m quite short. It’s rare that I buy pants off-the-rack that are the right length for me). I finally took the plunge and chopped about 20cm off the bottom and then hemmed them myself. Now they’re the perfect length for wearing with casual flat shoes.
To add a bit of detail to my casual outfit, I decided to wear these matching collar pins, a gift from my friend Tom.
Tom is one of my dear friends from college. Last year, he embarked on a massive round-the-world adventure. When he got home, he showered me with loads of gorgeous pressies. These pins were picked up from Berlin, where they were hand-made by a street vendor. Tom and I share a mutual love of Berlin, because it’s the setting for one of our favourite films: Cabaret.
Simple makeup, glossy lips and relaxed hair finish off my look for the day. I wore this outfit to work on some sewing projects, do grocery shopping and have dinner with my Mum and brother.
