Thank goodness it’s Friday. This week has been exhausting and I’m pleased to see the end of it. Today I’m linking up with Dapper Dolly for another Fancy Friday post. The idea behind Fancy Friday is to dress up to celebrate the end of the week. It’s like the opposite of Casual Fridays, with a lot more sparkle and glitz.
Today I was feeling a definite 80’s vibe as I got dressed. I’ve been listening to a lot of Cyndi Lauper and early Madonna tunes, so that might have something to do with it. I decided to just go with my instincts and put together an outfit that draws a bit of inspiration from the 80’s, with a few personal touches thrown in.
I am wearing:
– Black corset dress from 7 Angels
– Pink leopard print leggings from Diva
– Hot pink flats from Rubi Shoes
– Pink sequinned hair bow from a junk store
– Black bangles
– Black flower ring (gift from my parents)
I teased my hair into a beehive to go with this outfit. I had originally wanted to leave the back of my hair down, but in the end I decided to twist it up into a french roll. I really love the effect, and I had so many compliments on my hairstyle throughout the day.
When my hair was long, my beehive would deflate by the middle of the afternoon. The weight of my hair would pull all of the volume out of my do’ and the whole thing would collapse. Now that my hair’s shorter, elaborate styles like this will last all day (with a decent spritz of hairspray!)
I’ve included this bonus action shot of me twirling in my lace dress. This dress is ideal for spinning and twirling, and I can never resist a quick whizz around when I first put it on.
I’m considering making a tutorial to show you how to do this hairstyle. Let me know if you’d be interested.
I hope that you have an amazing Friday. If you’d like to join in with the Fancy Friday fun, feel free to include a link in the comments to your own outfit post. I’d love to check out your end-of-the-week outfit.
