Daily outfit 23/10/2013

Somebody once told me that when it comes to vintage clothing, if you wore a certain style the first time it was in fashion then you’re too old to rock that style when it resurfaces.  I think that’s bollocks.  I say that if a certain style of clothing makes you happy, then you should wear it.

One of my favourite styles of clothing is grunge.  It’s a style that I adored in the mid-nineties when it was first fashionable and I still love it now.  It seems to be experiencing a bit of a resurgence.  Technically I shouldn’t be wearing grunge the second time around, because I dabbled in that style during it’s first flush of popularity.  But I do it anyway.  Because grunge isn’t about following rules.

I’m pretty sure that I’ve posted a similar outfit on the blog before, which isn’t surprising because I wear this ensemble pretty often.  I love the tee-shirt-over-a-slip-dress look because it’s just so easy to wear and very comfortable.

DSCF9020I am wearing:

– Red and black slip dress (gift from my friend Sam)

– Alice in Zombieland tee shirt from Threadless

– Black studded boots from Big W

– Black bangles (thrifted)

– Snake ring from Diva

– Chain ring from ASOS

– Signet ring (gift from my father)

DSCF9023This tee shirt is one of my favourites.  I always get so many compliments when I wear it, and I love how many Alice in Wonderland references are hidden in the print.

DSCF9024Do you wear certain styles time and time again?  Do you think that you should leave a certain style alone if you wore it the first time around?

  1. I hate fashion “rules” of any kind (except tights as pants….I really, really hate tights as pants) and think you rock this outfit. I think clothes should make you feel fabulous and that is the only rule anyone should follow.
