Daily outfit 14/10/2013

I am wearing a new-old pair of pants today.  For a while now I’ve been jonesing for a pair of wide-legged palazzo pants in either a bright colour or a gorgeous print.  A couple of weeks ago, I came across these ones at my local op shop for $1.50.

DSCF8967I am wearing:

– Pink and black argyle jumper from Fashion Fair

– Hot pink singlet top from Bonds

– Black and white floral print palazzo pants (thrifted)

– Purple loafers from Rubi shoes

– Vintage bracelet that was my mothers.

– Assorted silver rings

DSCF8968The only thing that wasn’t perfect about these pants was the length.  I’m very short, and these were nearly a foot too long on me.  Even in heels they were dragging on the ground.  I’m not great at sewing, but I’ve been trying to improve my skills so that I can do minor alterations to my op-shop finds to make them more tailored.  So I got out my sewing box and took these babies up.  They are now the perfect length and I adore them.

DSCF8970The pants are so comfortable too.  They’re a really lightweight fabric and they swish and swing when I walk.  I can tell that I’m going to wear these a lot during the warmer months.  I also love that they close at the back.  I find that pants with a front zipper add bulk to my small waist and give me an odd-looking silhouette.  Pants that fasten at the back give me a much smoother line and I think are a lot more flattering on my shape.  Basically, I adore these pants.

DSCF8973I also wore this bracelet which was my mothers.  I found it at the bottom of an old makeup case she gave me years ago, and when I showed it to her she exclaimed, “Oh, I’d forgotten all about that!  You can keep it!”.  So I did.  It’s missing quite a few stones, but I don’t care because it’s so gorgeous.
