Things I Love Thursday 15/8/2013

Today’s Things I Love Thursday list will probably only be a short one.  This has been probably the hardest week of all since Ross left me.  So I’m really scraping the bottom of the barrel to find things to be happy about.  But there’s always something to smile about, always.  No matter how tiny, no matter how insignificant it might seem, there is always something.

This week I love:

DSCF8262-Waking up in the early hours of the morning to an odd slurping noise.  Ringo was fast asleep and Jelly had taken the opportunity to give him a very thorough wash.

– Making myself a cup of tea and sitting on the front porch watching a storm.

– Sparkly purple manicures.

– Visits from my brother.

– This quote from one of my friends

Me: I’m too full from lunch to eat my ice cream.

Him: Ness, eating is like playing Tetris, and ice cream is the long skinny brick.  There’s always room for it.

– Third Rock from the Sun.

– Gorgeous emails full of empathy and very good advice.

– Kahlua cheesecake.

DSCF7976-Saying a rosary before bed.

– Reading A Storm of Swords in the bathtub.

– Simon Pegg and Nick Frost

– This video:

What do you love this week?  I’d love to hear all about it in the comments.

P.S: I’m probably going to be moving house quite soon, so I’m in the process of trying to clear out my stuff.  To this end, I’m having a sale in my etsy store.  From now until the end of August, you can use the code SNOOCHIEBOOCHIES to get 20% off any purchase over $5

  1. How exciting that you’re going to moving soon, I hope dearly that everything goes smoothly for you with this relocation. Moving is never a walk in the park, by any stretch of the imagination, but some are definitely better and I’ll be keeping my fingers firmly crossed for you that this is one of them.

Have a beautiful weekend, dear lady!

    • Thank you so much. I’m feeling very nervous about leaving the house that was supposed to be my long-term home with my partner. I found a beautiful flat yesterday that is ideal, and I’ve put an application in for it. I’ll know in a few days whether I’ve got it. Then comes the incredibly stressful process of actually moving!

  2. Aww, the Jelly/Ringo love is gorgeous! It always makes me feel so warm and fuzzy when I see Tonka grooming Frodo.
And I love you! I dunno if that may sound a bit creepy, but you are a wonderful, amazing and inspiring person. xox

    • That doesn’t sound creepy at all. I love you too! Thank you so much for this sweet and thoughtful comment. It’s been a rock-bottom week for me, but I’m working on climbing out of this hole. Your kind words have really given me a boost.

  3. Sending you a massive, massive hug. Have been there, done that, and bought that particularly horrendous T-shirt. You are allowed to grieve for the relationship, for all that it was and might have been. There will be bad times and you’re allowed to have them even when other people think you’re “getting over it”… it doesn’t have to be logical. When my ex and I broke up, I cried myself to sleep every night for a month, ate a lot of ice cream, and was convinced that I would spend the rest of my life alone and that there would never be another man who would be attracted to and love me.

Though I’ve never met you, I can tell from reading your blog (I’m a lurker), that you’re a creative, warm, generous, loving, beautiful and unique person, with a truly original personality and a gorgeous smile (I wish I smiled like you!!!). You deserve someone who loves you and won’t stop loving you for the rest of his life, who can’t imagine life without you and can’t imagine not being with you.

On another note, what do I love this Thursday?
    – Eating and drinking things that aren’t toast, plain crackers or water without then having an upset stomach (got gastro, was not fun.)
    – Having an understanding and supportive boss who hasn’t given me a hard time about being off sick for a whole week, in a week where one of the other doctors was already on leave
    – Jogging the City 2 Surf and finishing it despite being unwell (clearly a) I have more willpower and determination than I think and b) am also quite stupid)
    – Drinking straws, which allow me to continue having cups of tea even though my front tooth is so sore from the nerve dying
    – Having enough in my rainy day fund to afford the root canal treatment to save abovementioned tooth (anyone who says they don’t need a rainy day fund is either loaded or stupid)
    – 12 season box set of Air Crash Investigation (kept me entertained for the last week!!!)

    • Oh my darling. Thank you so much for this comment. I can’t tell you how touching it was to read this. It actually bought a tear to my eye. This week has just been so awful, because I think that it’s really sinking in that Ross is no longer my partner and my life is going to change completely in so many ways. I miss him so much and it’s just the pits. Thank you so much for writing this, it’s really given me a lift.

I’m sorry that you’ve been so sick, but you should be so proud of yourself for running the City 2 Surf. That’s quite an achievement! Well done!
