Daily outfit 20/2/2013

I feel like a lucky duck today.  I’ve got a gorgeous (and expensive) new blouse and I didn’t have to spend a cent.

My Nana bought this blouse for herself a while ago.  It sat in her closet for over a year, until she finally caved and realised that it wasn’t actually her style.  When I went over to visit her last week, she produced the blouse and handed it to me with a flourish.  I was astonished to see that the tags were still attached.  I was more astonished by the price.  $129!  I’ve never spent that much on a blouse in my life.

I was actually a bit nervous about wearing something that cost so much.  I was sure that I’d spill something on it, or it would get snagged on my jewellery.  But so far, so good.

DSCF7551I am wearing:

– Grey ruffled blouse from Cue

– Swarovski crystal heart pendant (gift from my parents)

– Black pinstripe skirt from Target

– Black ballet flats from Rubi

– Amethyst ring (belonged to my grandmother)

I really love the ruffled detail on the blouse.  It’s so pretty and floaty.  I was a little bit hesitant about the colour.  Pearl grey is a lot softer than the colours I usually like to wear, and I was a bit worried that it would make me look washed out.  I was pleasantly surprised that the colour actually quite suits me.

I chose this ring to pair with the blouse because it also used to belong to my grandmother.  She gave it to me when I was a little girl, and I took a fancy to it while I was playing in her jewel box one day.  I felt that it was just the thing to add a touch of sparkle to an otherwise tame outfit.

Have you ever worn anything that used to belong to your grandmother?

    • Thanks so much! I have quite a few things in my wardrobe that belonged to my nana. Most of it is jewellery, but I do have one really pretty dress as well.

I have a bit of an obsession with vintage gloves. I own a couple of pairs, and one of them once belonged to my great-grandmother. They’re really beautiful, but I almost never wear them because I don’t want to ruin them.
