Daily outfit 21/11/2012

I always find it tricky to plan outfits during the change of seasons.  Inevitably, I always wind up having to shed or add layers as the day goes on.  As we inch closer to summer though, I find that I’m much more comfortable in bare legs and bare arms.  For some reason, if my shoulders are cold I feel chilly all over, but I can tolerate breezy legs with ease.  Go figure.  So today I’m wearing shorts to keep the seasonal-shift-status-quo.

I am wearing:

– Black and white striped shirt from Cotton On

– Red tie-front cardigan from Cotton On

– Black shorts from Valley Girl

– Red flats from Steve Madden

– Red sunglasses earrings from Diva

– Red charm bracelet from Cutey

-Teacup ring from One Day in Paradise

– Ruby ring

I used to hate wearing shorts.  I found them really uncomfortable.  I’m also pretty self-conscious about my thighs, so I feel nervous about highlighting them.  However, in the last couple of years my wardrobe has gained three pairs of shorts, which I wear more and more frequently as I get older.  I wish I’d jumped on the shorts bandwagon sooner, because they’re so comfy and really easy to style.

I’m loving this double-bun hairdo too. It makes me feel a bit like Sailor Moon and a bit like Minnie Mouse.  It’s really simple to do and it keeps the hair off my face.  As an added bonus, it’s a little bit quirky, so when I wear it to work, I always get loads of compliments.

  1. Cute! I used to wear my hair like that all the time, but then it was short for a good number of years. May have to try it again now that it’s long again. And I am the same way about shorts/my thighs. I finally jumped on the short bandwagon this past summer, too.
