On Saturday Ross and I held our annual Halloween party. It was our first Halloween in our new house so we were both very excited. We went all out this year and bought a fog machine and a bunch of awesome decorations. We cooked pulled pork rolls for our guests and provided loads of sweets. There was a trivia competition, a pinata and a rather headed round of celebrity heads.
Best of all, there were plenty of awesome costumes! I think that this year’s Halloween costume is my favourite of all the costumes I’ve ever worn. As I’m a huge Tim Burton fan, I decided to dress up as The Corpse Bride this year. It was also quite hilarious because Ross and I always get asked, “So, when are you two getting married?” because we’ve been a couple for so long and we now own a house. It was a lot of fun to actually get to wear a wedding dress, even if it was just a gag.
And now here’s what you’ve all been waiting for: A shiteload of photos!
Right after I blue myself (there has to be a better way to say that).
My Corpse Bride nails. I bought a blue shatter polish and applied it over a green base coat. The results were really effective.
I put fake cobwebs on everything. And I mean, everything!
Our Beetlejuice bobble-head doll.
I was so happy with the way my costume turned out.
Ross dressed up as a mad scientist (which is extra-awesome because he’s a pharmacist).
He didn’t have to do much to act “mad”, I’d say that came pretty naturally.
Mu mum and dad actually came in costume! I was so impressed, because normally they hate dressing up. I don’t know where I inherited the genes for an affinity with costumes (although you can tell that I get my good looks from my dad!).
My friend Kath as Lumpy Space Princess from Adventure Time.
I love Halloween couple shots.
In this photo, we’re pretending to be characters from Clone High.
All in all, it was an awesome night. I hope you all had a great Halloween too. What did you dress up as?
[…] It’s also been a big year for costumes! Ross and I made a daring attempt at a couples costume when we dressed as Jay and Silent Bob for Free Comic Book Day. I attended Supanova as Luna Lovegood. At Armageddon, I re-hashed one of my favourite costumes and dressed as Tank Girl. I also attended Comic Con without a cosplay costume this year. In October I dressed in a 1920′s themed ensemble for Murder on the Puffing Billy Express and won an award for Best Dressed. For our first Halloween in our new house, I dressed as Corpse Bride. […]
I loved your costume so much! Seriously, it’s ridiculous how well your makeup turned out…you looked just like you stepped out of the film.
I had a really fun time…but now I have to figure out what to do with that dress now that I’m done with the LSP costume
Aww, thankyou. I spent so much time tweaking the makeup, and I had a really clear idea of how I wanted it to look. Honestly though, I’m such a perfectionist that I don’t think I would have been happy with it no matter how good it was.
You should wear that dress. Often! It’s so cute and the colour is great.
