Daily outfit 24/10/2012: a touch of 40’s

Last weekend, Ross and I attended a birthday part for one of Ross’s workmates.  Seeing as how the birthday boy was born in 1942, the party was 40’s themed.  I took advantage of the event and styled a fun, nautical-themed 40’s outfit:

I am wearing:

– Blue and white striped dress, vintage from Dookie Emporium

– Red Mary Jane shoes from I Love Billy

– Nude stockings from Target

– Nautical themed silk scarf (thrifted)

For those of you who don’t know, Ross works as a pharmacist.  So when we found this old-fashioned lab coat, it cemented his idea to dress up as…you guessed it!    He did look very dapper.

I was so pleased with how my hair turned out.  Normally, it takes me forever to get my victory rolls to look tidy and symmetrical, but on this day I got it right first try!

The party was so much fun.  We ate a delicious lunch and the host made sure that our glasses never ran dry.  I actually wound up getting a lot drunker than I’d intended to.  I blame it on the hot sun and the fact that I started drinking on an empty stomach.

It was a gorgeous day and I had such a good time!

Have you ever been to a 1940’s themed party?  What did you wear?
