October is the perfect time to indulge your sweet tooth. In the lead up to Halloween, I like to watch loads of scary movies. I love having a little chocolatey treat to nibble on while I watch, but often in the evening I’m pretty lazy and I don’t have the inclination to whip up a culinary masterpiece. Luckily, I have this recipe for mug cakes, which makes a single-serve cake in under two minutes. Intrigued? You should be!
You will need:
-1/4 cup icing sugar
– 2 teaspoons cocoa powder
– 1 egg
– 1 microwave safe mug
– Microwave oven
Method
– Put the dry ingredients into your mug and then crack the egg on top.
– Use a fork to whisk the ingredients together until completely mixed. Make sure that there aren’t any stray dry ingredients hiding at the bottom of your cup.
– Microwave your mug for one minute
– Remove from microwave and eat your scrummy cake with a spoon.
That’s all there is to it! If you like, you can top your cake with chocolate buttons, whipped cream, marshmallow, popping candies or (my personal favourite) a dollop of peanut butter.
This mug cake recipe is perfect for whipping up a quick snack for one to satisfy a hankering for chocolate. But be warned: once you know how to make these, it’s probable that you’ll want to make one every night because they’re just so darn simple. Enjoy your mug cakes in moderation if you want to avoid a tummy-ache from too much chocolate.
My sister used to make mug cakes but now she’s stopped. I need to put in a formal complaint.
Oh totally! Stage a protest if necessary, just bring those babies back!
