We’re now into our final month of winter and I couldn’t be happier. I’m not a winter girl. I am tired of feeling hunched-up and frozen, tired of shivering each time I step out of bed, tired of frostbitten fingers and numb toes. Finally though, winter is starting to come to an end. We’ve had a couple of days when the sunshine actually feels warm on your skin, and it’s no longer pitch black by five o’clock.
I’ve been longing for the opportunity to wear some of my pretty summer dresses. I don’t really have seasonal wardrobes. I wear most of my clothing all year round. I just layer jumpers and tights and scarves over my summer garments to make them warm enough to wear in winter. Today I wore one of my favourite thrifted dresses with a wintery twist.
– Black wool jumper from Target
– Blue and white checked 70’s sundress (from The Dookie Emporium)
– Black and white striped tights (from some random stall at Doncaster shopping centre)
– Black brogues from Rubi shoes
– Blue flower earrings (vintage)
When I put this outfit together, I was unsure how the lapels on the dress would look when I layered the jumper over the top. I adore the way they create a little collar at the front of the jumper. It looks super cute.
The earrings I’m wearing are a clip-on pair that belonged to my grandmother. She gave them to me when I was about seven years old, and I was desperate to have my ears pierced. I think these were supposed to placate me. I had completely forgotten about them, until I unearthed them from a box of treasures that my mum found in my old bedroom. They’re actually relatively comfortable for clip-on earrings. I’ve never really been a fan of clip-ons, but I’m starting to warm up to the idea.
Do you wear your summer clothes in winter, or do you have a separate winter wardrobe?
