Daily outfit: 11/11/11

Good day everyone.  I hope that you’ve had a splendid Friday.  I spent my morning doing some tidying and organizing and then skipped off to work.

This is the outfit I chose for today:

I am wearing:

– Butterfly shirt from Jeans West

– Purple gypsy skirt from Glassons

– A mess of bracelets (more about that later)

– Amethyst ring

– Amethyst necklace.

Have I mentioned before that I love butterflies?  Well, I really do.  Butterflies feature rather prominently in my wardrobe.  My affinity with these winged creatures probably has a bit to do with their pretty colours, gorgeous patterns and the fact that “Vanessa” actually means “butterfly”.

I also love a good, swishy skirt.

I’m really embracing the stacked bracelets trend that’s sweeping across the wrists of fashionistas everywhere.  I’m not usually one to follow trends, but this one is so eclectic and carefree that I can’t help it.  Plus, it gives me an excuse to wear all of my favorite bracelets at once.

From left to right, the bracelets I’m wearing are:

– pink crystal bead bracelet (gift from my aunt).

– “Water” charm bracelet (gift from Ross’s grandmother)

– Malachite beads from a random hippie store in Melbourne.

– Rhinestone bracelet which belonged to my great-grandmother.

-Purple beaded bracelet from a random hippie store.

– Silver Pandora charm bracelet

– Jade bracelet which used to belong to my mother

– Silver rope bracelet (gift from my aunt).

I cleaned out my bookcase last night, which was a massive task.  Books are one of my biggest vices.  I buy them often, and I’ve always got a big stack of unread books.  It was tough, but I managed to whittle my collection down to just the essentials.  Would you like a peek?  Of course you would.

Look at that!  It’s gorgeous!  Sadly there is no ‘before’ shot for you to compare it with.  I was simply too embarrassed to take one.  If you want to know what it looked like prior to the tidy, just imagine that an atomic bomb has gone off in a library.  You’ll get the picture.

Here’s a close-up of the top shelf.  You’ll notice my perfumes and my CD player.

These boxes are actually miniature tea chests that I got from a tea shop in Sassafras.  Once the tea was gone, I couldn’t bring myself to throw them away, so I now use them to store some of my jewellery.

Brooches

The second shelf houses all of my cookbooks, as well as a miniature Pumbaa.  He actually snorts when you squeeze his sides.

And the bottom shelf.

While I was tidying, I also unearthed this gorgeous book.  It’s a picture book about Frida Kahlo!  How awesome is that?!

What do you think of my bookcase?  Is it not the loveliest bookcase you’ve ever seen?  (It probably isn’t but please don’t hurt my feelings by telling me so, I’m pretty proud of it).
