Ever since I started wearing makeup, I’ve been on the quest for the perfect foundation. I’ve tried so many different formulations: some good, some bad and some very, very ugly. When I snapped up this Kit mineral foundation at the Viva La Colour event last weekend, I think I may have come pretty darn close to grabbing the holy grail of foundations.
The first thing I noticed about this foundation was the shade. It is a perfect match for my skin. I always have a lot of trouble finding a foundation that matches my fair skin exactly. Many foundations nowadays tend to have a yellow base, because it seems that makeup companies believe that everyone wants to look ridiculously tanned. The Kit Mineral Liquid Powder foundation comes in a ‘fair’ shade, which is lovely and light. Once applied, this product looks like my real skin, only better.
The foundation is really easy to apply. It glides effortlessly over your skin and blends well. A little goes a long way and you really don’t need much to cover your entire face. It’s hypoallergenic, which is fantastic if you have sensitive skin like mine. I’m also rapt with the fact that it contains an SPF 15 sunscreen, to protect your precious skin from the sun.
The coverage of the foundation is quite good. It sets quickly and gives your skin a soft, satiny texture. It’s excellent for evening out your skin tone and is a brilliant base for makeup. The Mineral Liquid Powder Foundation is long-lasting as well. It holds up well through even my most hectic days without the need for re-application.
The Kit foundation isn’t as oily as most foundations I’ve tried. I have rather oily skin, and so I try to avoid slick, shiny foundations. As this product is touted as having a ‘powder finish’, I expected it to control the surface oil on my skin quite well. The product does a pretty good job, although I find that I sometimes need to apply a little translucent powder during the day to take care of shiny patches on my nose and forehead.
At $44.95, this foundation is in the middle of the price range. I believe that it’s worth every penny, due to its stellar performance and the fact that it matches my skin perfectly. As I mentioned before, you don’t have to use very much at a time to get a flawless finish, so one tube will last you for several months.
I’m loving this foundation, and I have no doubt that I’ll run out and buy another tube once I’ve used this one up.
