Daily outfit 21/9/2010

I had planned on having a very productive day today, and instead I wound up spending practically the entire afternoon at the mall.  I had to go and pick up two new pairs of glasses (pictures tomorrow) and I also ran out of toothpaste and mouthwash this morning, so I needed to grab some more. I also wanted to get some photos printed up.  I have become slightly addicted to printing photos.  I am planning to do a heap and then start putting together some albums.  For some reason, it’s just so much nicer to look at pictures in an album, rather than clicking through them on your computer.  I don’t know if that’s because it makes me think back to my childhood, when I loved to spend the afternoon flipping through my parents old photo albums, giggling at my Dad’s haircut and marvelling at my mother’s wardrobe.  I think that might be the reason.  I just think that photos should be a bit more tangible, and having them all trapped on my computer makes me feel a little sad.

It was a pretty great day.  I didn’t get as much work done as I had hoped, but it was really nice to wander about without any intention of buying anything.  It was a great way to wind down.  Many of the stores are getting in new stock, and some of the trends for this season are looking pretty good.  I saw some gorgeous floaty, floral dresses in Bardot that reminded me of this lovely dress my mother had as a teenager, that I wish she had held onto for me.  I am sorely tempted to pick one up, but I really can’t afford it.  I didn’t even try one on, for fear that I would fall irreversibly in love and wouldn’t be able to pay my rent this month.

This is what I wore today:

– Black blazer (thrifted)

– Black and white striped tee shirt from Cotton On

– Jetsons tee shirt from Jay Jays

– Black mini skirt from Hound Dog

– Blue tights from Ambra

– Robot pendant from Equip

– Black and white comic book shoes from Betts

– Liquorice allsorts ring

– Amethust ring.

I am wearing my old glasses in this photo.  I had no idea how wrong my prescription was until I exchanged them for my new pair.  Now I can see again!  It’s a wonderful thing.
