It has been a really great weekend. On Saturday, Ross and I headed to Gertrude Street for a spot of vintage shopping with friends.
– 60’s print balloon-sleeve dress from Target
– Denim duch boy cap from Ice
– Sheer Relief opaque tights
– Black and silver boots from Savers
– Mother of pearl earrings (thrifted)
– Treble Clef pendant
– Amethyst ring.
I went for a very Edie-inspired outfit. Anyway, I was on a mission to find the perfect dress to wear to my birthday party in a few weeks. I wanted to treat myself to a lovely vintage piece, so my first stop was Circa Vintage. It is a gorgeous vintage store located in Gertrude Street in Melbourne that specializes in genuine vintage pieces. Although the store had some fantastic items, I didn’t have much luck. I did find one dress that I fell in love wtih. It was a 1960’s purple, orange and turquiose psychedelic printed tunic dress with a very short skirt and flared sleeves. Sadly, it wasn’t a very good fit, and the material was so delicate that I would have been too frightened to risk having it altered. So we moved on.
We had a great time prancing around Gertrude Street. We visited Rose Chong’s Costume Store, which was utterly awe-inspiring. We found plenty of cute second hand stores and a great book store too. I didn’t find a dress, although I did buy something rather special. I am going to save it for a future post though. I am still on the lookout for a birthday dress, if anybody has any suggestions…
On Saturday night, Ross and I got Indian takeaway and curled up on the couch to watch My Fair Lady. While we were watching, I heard an odd noise from the kitchen, and walked in to find Jellylorum pushing her face around in the takeaway container of butter-chiken remnants. The aftermath looked a little something like this:
Today, we had a leisurely morning in the city followed by a mega Dr Who marathon. I wore this:
– Red cardigan from Cotton On
– Red sequinned beret from Sportsgirl
– Amethyst ring
– Cherry print tunic (thrifted)
– White long sleeved top from Face Off
– Target skinny jeans
– Steve Madden red flats
– Stripey socks
– Aldo cherry brooch.
It was only when I caught a glimpse of myself in a store window today that I realised that my outfit today causes me to bear an uncanny resemblance to Strawberry Shortcake. Whoops!
