What’s in my handbag?

You can tell an awful lot about a woman by the contents of her handbag. I thought it might be fun to give you a peek into mine:

I never go anywhere without my wallet. The reason is pretty obvious. It contains all my cash and I.D. My wallet is also stuffed with about a billion loyalty cards, most of them with only a single stamp on them.

Business cards

I carry a few business cards with me wherever I go. I love talking to new people about my site, and I like to have something on hand to give them if they are interested in paying my blog a visit. I feel so dodgy writing my web address on receipts so that people will remember it. Business cards are just a more professional way to hand over your details.

I’m not even going to elaborate here.

Hand sanitizer

I am a bit of a germ-o-phobe, and I like to keep a miniature bottle of hand sanitizer with me at all times. When I’m spending the day in the city, I like to give my hands a quick wipe before I eat, to kill off any nasty bugs I might have picked up from the handrail on the escalator. Hand sanitizer is also really useful for those times when you visit the public toilets and there is no soap.

I bought a Lancome compact a few years ago and I use it almost every day. I like having a mirror handy, for touching up my makeup and hair, and also for sneakily checking that I don’t have anything stuck in my teeth. I use translucent powder to nix any shine without weighing down my makeup.

I try to apply my makeup carefully enough that I don’t have to reapply throughout the day, but lippy always needs touching up. I hate long-lasting lipsticks, because they feel dry and cement-like. I prefer to wear a regular lipstick that needs to be reapplied occasionally.

I usually have a few sweets rolling around in my bag. I carry mints to keep my breath fresh and also to give me a sugar hit if I need it. I love the old-fashioned peppermints that you get at the Pancake Parlour, and there are usually a couple of these in my handbag.

Blotting papers

I bought some blotting papers at the Body Shop, and they are a total god-send. They are great for mopping up excess oil throughout the day, without using powder, so your makeup stays fresh-looking without getting cakey.

Notebook and pen

I have a little notebook that I write down all my ideas for my blog and do all the planning for new articles that are coming up. It is always either on my desk or in my handbag, along with my Space Invaders pen, so that I can quickly jot down any ideas that come to mind as soon as I think of them.

I always seem to have a few odd kernels of popcorn sitting in the bottom of my handbag.  This is because, for some reason, when I go to the movies, I spill popcorn all over myself, and inevitably some always winds up in my bag.
