A few weeks ago, my skin was feeling horribly clogged and oily. I was getting some pretty dramatic break outs and my skin was in desperate need of some TLC. I decided to whack on this deep cleansing mask to sort it out.
The first thing I noticed about this mask is that it smells delicious. It is scented with orange and bergamot, which are two of my favourite scents. Yum. Also it is quite cheap, retailing for less than $10 at most chemists, and K-Mart.
When I first put the mask on, I felt a little nervous, because my skin tingled quite a lot as it came into contact. At first, I thought that I might have been having an allergic reaction, but after I washed it off, I realised that it was just the active ingredients in the mask making contact with my skin. It does feel a bit tingly and strange when it first goes on, but it is totally worth it.
When I washed the mask off, I was astonished by the visible difference it had made to my skin. My face felt so smooth and soft. My pores looked clearer and it had worked well to dissolve a lot of my blackheads. Furthermore, the mask really stimulated the blood flow to my face, so I had this lovely, rosy glow. It was great.
I have been using the mask regularly, and it has really helped keep my skin clear. I would highly recommend it to anybody who finds that their skin is looking dull, clogged or listless, or who is having bad breakouts or problems with blackheads. I have quite sensitive skin, and I found it didn’t irritate my face at all. Also, a lot of deep-cleansing masks are very harsh, and while they clear out all the gunk, they also strip your skin of all it’s moisture. This mask was the opposite of that. When I wiped it off, my face was silky smooth and felt really supple, not dry and stretched.
A word of warning with deep cleansing masks: When you begin using a mask for the first time, you are likely to break out the first couple of times you use it. This is because the active ingredients are working to dredge all the blockages and dirt out of your pores. The first application might not get rid of all the goo, and so it sits below the surface of your skin and causes more breakouts and blackheads. While it is tempting to bin your mask when you see all the pimples that have erupted, I promise you that if you stick with it and use it weekly, after about three weeks you will notice a marked improvement in your skin. If you don’t see an improvement after three weeks of regular use, you should probably stop using the mask and switch to something else.
